Here, we have the Atlantic climate with the influences of the Mediterranean sea. And, if we can say that there's a harsh winter, it is also very hot in the Summer. We can add the the soil is granitic and that completes the scenario to understand why the wines has such good quality!

The castes of the region are well adjusted to the edafoclimatic characteristics of Douro's proximity and produce wines related to the typical gastronomy where the lamb and the "Bordalesa" lamprey are the first choices.

The vine plantation in the property is even older than the architectural heritage. Vila Boa de Quires was once called just "Boa" (Good), baptized in 1159 by the first Portuguese King, Dom Afonso Henriques, due to the superior quality of that vine.
